Event Review: Overview of Storage Management in Windows Server 2003 (Session TNT1-138)Welcome to the material supporting page for this session. The materials on this page have been selected as the best matches to the content covered in the live event session. Session OutlineThe integrated storage services in Microsoft Windows Server 2003 have undergone enhancements and expansion to include a number of new features. These features help businesses control storage management costs and increase availability of data. This session covers Windows Server 2003 storage features such as the Volume Shadow Copy Service (VSS) and the Virtual Disk Service (VDS), which make it easier to manage and maintain disks, helping lower total cost of ownership (TCO) especially in complex multivendor storage environments. Point-in-time imaging capability through VSS simplifies and speeds up both backups and restores, and the Shadow Copies of Shared Folders feature of VSS enables users to restore their own files and folders without IT intervention. This session also covers improvements in other storage-related areas of Windows Server 2003, such as Encrypting File System (EFS), and Distributed File System (DFS).
