Security series – Interview Bret Arsenault on security efforts in the US and the Security Summits

Bret Arsenault works close the customers in running Microsoft’s US security strategy. This week his group is starting a series of customer events, the Security Summits, which you can attend for free. Bret talks with us on his views of security in the business environment, what his group is working on toward Microsoft’s security goals and where he sees the security environment in the future. We also have Joshua Hoffman giving us a short overview of what to expect in the next issue of TechNet magazine, and Dean Andrews will tell us what Webcasts he recommends this month. Charlie talks again with Robert Scoble getting his take on the zeitgeist for our industry this week.

Bret Arsenault - (General Manager National Security Team Microsoft Corporation)

Bret leads a team of strategic security advisors whose focus is to align closely with Microsoft's enterprise customers and work with them on how to ensure their technology environment (both Microsoft and other platforms) is secure. Arsenault's team is also responsible for developing and executing security-focused events and Security Round Tables across Microsoft's U.S. geographies.

In his former role as the Microsoft director of strategic technology, Arsenault was responsible for working closely with customers and with the product groups to develop the Microsoft security strategy. He has worked extensively on creating the Microsoft Risk Assessment (MSRA) methodology, which is a standardized framework to assess and provide guidance to Microsoft customers on their security risk. In addition to the MSRA, Arsenault has also been integrally involved in the development of Microsoft's U.S. emergency response plan, the Worldwide Security Mobilization effort, and the Trustworthy Computing task force.
