How Microsoft IT Deployed Microsoft Office 2007
The beta release of the 2007 Microsoft Office system provided the Microsoft IT Messaging and Collaboration Services (MACS) team with the opportunity to test improved deployment tools which are designed to simplify the enterprise-wide rollout of applications. The team has found that the single build folder, single customization patch, and script hooks resulted in a more efficient deployment solution, helping to ensure that deployment scenarios are fully tested before the release of the 2007 Microsoft Office system, and to also extend the productivity-increasing benefits of the enhanced Office system applications to users throughout the company. In this interview Michael Murphy speaks with Eric Vigesaa about the team's experience with delivery process, installation and use of new deployment tools.
