Types of Cloud Offerings

Software as a Service (SaaS)

Software as a Service (SaaS) -- meaning delivering software over the Internet -- provides the ability to simplify deployment and reduce acquisition costs. Microsoft Online Services are subscription-based, on-demand applications and hosted services, providing your organization with a consistent experience across multiple devices.

Platform as a Service (PaaS)

The Windows Azure platform provides a cloud services operating system and a set of services to support easy development and operation of applications for the platform. The platform provides functionality to build and manage applications that span from consumer Web to enterprise scenarios.  Windows Azure and SQL Azure are the key components of the Windows Azure platform. Windows Azure is the development, service hosting, and service management environment for the Windows azure platform. SQL Azure provides data services, including a relational database, reporting, and data synchronization.

Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS)

IaaS is fundamentally on-demand computing and storage to host, scale, and manage applications and services on-premise of with a dedicated hoster. By pooling your computing and storage resources you can scale with ease and speed to meet the infrastructure needs of your entire organization or individual departments, globally or locally.
