Commerce Server 2000 Performance Tools
Increase the scalability, the capacity, and the performance of your Microsoft® Commerce Server 2000 Web site with the information and tools provided with the Commerce Server 2000 Performance Tools. The tools and documents approach site performance testing and analyses in four ways:
- Commerce Server 2000 Transaction Cost Analysis (TCA)
- Commerce Server 2000 Site Performance Analysis
- Commerce Server 2000 Component Performance Analysis
- Commerce Server 2000 Performance and Capacity Tools
In each of these sections, a series of white papers explains the concepts and methodology and demonstrates how performance analysis was conducted on sample sites. Links to tools downloads and sample scripts that can be used to test your site performance have also been provided.

Commerce Server 2000 Transaction Cost Analysis (TCA)
TCA methodology can be used to measure the cost of individual shopper operations such as registering, browsing, searching a catalog, adding an item to a shopping cart, checking out, and so on. The capacity of a site is determined by dividing the total CPU, network, disk I/O, and memory capacity available for the server by the cost of shopper operations.

Commerce Server 2000 Site Performance Analysis
Included below are documents that provide performance and capacity planning analysis of a full sample site. The Commerce Server white papers demonstrate the capacity planning process using Transaction Cost Analysis methodology. Additionally, Web Application Stress Tool test scripts are provided to illustrate performance testing, data collection, and analysis.

Commerce Server 2000 Components Performance Analyses
The following documents provide performance and scaling analyses for several Microsoft Commerce Server 2000 features. The analyses are based on typical transaction and user profiles, and they evaluate performance for various configurations. The user profiles, as well as the configurations used, are described in the documents.
The performance information provided should be considered examples for planning purposes. Actual performance will vary, based on variables such as the user profile selected, network bandwidth, and other applications installed on the Commerce Server site.

Commerce Server 2000 Performance and Capacity Tools
The following toolkit package provides Commerce Server tools for use in creating large-scale data needed to test the actual scalability of a test deployment. Included in the package are: various Commerce Server-specific data population tools, the SVT site PUP package, the SVT site test scripts, WAS (Web Application Stress) test scripts, a 100-thousand-item sample catalog, the TCA toolkit, and accompanying documentation. The TCA toolkit, which requires Excel, is especially useful for performing Transaction Cost Analysis using the Web Application Stress Tool.
