Installing and configuring an AD FS server

For information about installing an Active Directory Federation Services (AD FS) server, see Checklist: Installing a federation server at Microsoft TechNet.

Note the following:

  • You must install the federation services component of AD FS. For more information, see Install the Federation Service component of ADFS at Microsoft TechNet.

  • Forefront Unified Access Gateway (UAG) must be added to federation services as a Windows NT token-based application. For more information, see Add a new Windows NT token-based application to the Federation Service.

    Note

    When you add the Windows NT token-based application, make sure to enter a display name to identify the application and enter the application URL that you plan to use as the public host name of the portal, for example uag.treyresearch.net.
