Session Outline

In this session we are going to provide an overview of the Open XML format examining its benefits and why it was adopted by Microsoft in its Office 2007 suite. We will also look at different scenarios in which using Open XML format documents allows you to become more productive and efficient when trying to solve different business problems. We will then discuss the file structure of Office 2007 documents. We will look at different examples of the new file structure in Word, Excel, and PowerPoint documents. We will examine how these commonly used applications can insert additional components, as well as integrate with one another easily through XML. Finally, we will look at how developers can take advantage of the Office 2007 architecture when creating their solutions.
