Event Review: Building Custom IIS7 Web Server Extensions (Session ITPROADD-124)
Welcome to the material supporting page for this session. The materials on this page have been selected as the best matches to the content covered in the live event session.
Session Outline
In the session we will take an in-depth look at how you can build custom extensions to IIS 7.0. IIS 7.0 has many new and exciting features that make developing custom server extensions much easier and far more powerful than in IIS 6.0. In this session, we will introduce you to each of these new features in turn. First, we will discuss how developing Web applications has been made much easier in IIS 7.0. We will see how the new configuration system allows developers to make configuration changes without requiring help from an administrator, and how administration tools have been simplified by integrating IIS and ASP.NET management into a single unified interface. Second, we'll show how IIS 7 allows you to customize the server to your application. And finally, we will cover how you can extend server functionality using custom modules and how you can write these modules using native or managed code.
