Edge Synchronization transaction failure - Recipients are out of sync.

Explanation

The cmdlet that ran to trigger this alert is Test-EdgeSynchronization. The Test-EdgeSynchronization cmdlet is used to help diagnose whether the subscribed Edge Transport servers have a current and accurate synchronization status. This alert indicates that recipient configuration information for your Exchange organization is not synchronized with the subscribed Edge Transport server. The Edge Transport server uses this configuration information to implement recipient lookup and safe list aggregation features.

This alert may be triggered when Microsoft Exchange EdgeSync service running on a Hub Transport server fails to replicate changes in recipient configuration information from Active Directory to Active Directory Application Mode (ADAM) instance running on the subscribed Edge Transport server.

User Action

To resolve this alert, do one or more of the following:

  • Run the Start-EdgeSynchronization Exchange Management Shell command from a Hub Transport server.

  • Review the MOM Operator Console for detailed information about the cause of this alert. For more information, see the introduction section.

  • In Event Viewer, review the Application logs on your Hub Transport and Edge Transport servers for events that may be associated with this alert. Use that information to determine the root cause of the problem.

If you are not already doing so, consider running the tools that Microsoft Exchange offers to help administrators analyze and troubleshoot their Exchange environment. These tools can help you make sure that your configuration is in line with Microsoft best practices. They can also help you identify and resolve performance issues, improve mail flow, and better manage disaster recovery scenarios. Go to the Toolbox node of the Exchange Management Console to run these tools now. For more information about these tools, see Toolbox in the Exchange Server 2007 Help.
