Operations (form)

Applies To: Microsoft Dynamics AX 2012 R3, Microsoft Dynamics AX 2012 R2, Microsoft Dynamics AX 2012 Feature Pack, Microsoft Dynamics AX 2012

Click Production control > Setup > Routes > Operations.

Use this form to create or edit operations for a route. Operations are a series of discrete tasks that must be performed in some sequence to produce an item. You must set up operations for each route that you create. Because multiple operations that are linked in sequence represent a production route, all data that is specified for an operation automatically applies to the route.

What you must do before you set up an operation

  • Know which task or activity must be completed.

  • Know the order of the processes and the priority of the operation.

  • Know the requirements for the operations resources that perform the operation.

  • Create resource groups and their associated resources, because resources perform the tasks that are involved in operations.
