Course types (form)

Click Human resources > Setup > Courses > Course types.

Use this form to create course types. You can use course types to group courses according to their type, structure, or content.

Examples of course types might be courses in personal development, management training, a foreign language, or programming.

Note

You cannot delete a course type that is associated with an existing course.

The following tables provide descriptions for the controls in this form.

Education disciplines

Maintain a list of the education disciplines that participants will learn when they complete a course of the course type.

The information in this field is maintained in the following form:

Certificates

Maintain a list of the certificates that participants will earn when they complete a course of the course type.

The information in this field is maintained in the following form:

 Competency - Certificates (form).

Financial dimensions

View information about financial dimensions, such as the default dimensions and where the dimensions are used in account structures and advanced rule structures.

Open the Description form, where you can enter more information about courses of the course type. You can use this text when you create courses for this course type.

Course type

Enter a unique name for the course type.

Description

Enter a description for the course type.

Group

Select the course group to associate with the course.

The information in this field is maintained in the following form:

 Course groups (form).

Minimum number of participants

Specify the minimum number of registered participants that are required for the course.

Note

When you assign a course type to a course, the course will inherit this value.

Number of days

Enter the number of days that the course will be held.

Note

When you assign a course type to a course and enter a starting date and time for the course, the ending date and time for the course is adjusted, depending on this value.

Display on Enterprise Portal

Select this check box if courses assigned to this course type should be available from Enterprise Portal for Microsoft Dynamics AX.

Skill

Select a skill that participants will gain when they complete a course of the course type.

Note

You must manually update a participant’s competency information after they complete a course where they earned a competency.

Level

Specify the skill level that a participant will be at when they complete a course that of the course type.

You must manually update a participant’s competency information after they complete a course where they earned a competency.

Education

Select an education discipline that participants will learn when they complete a course of the course type.

Note

You must manually update a participant’s competency information after they complete a course where they earned a competency.

Certificate

Select a certificate that participants will earn when they complete a course of the course type.

Default financial dimensions

The default financial dimensions for the main account. When you select a financial dimension value, the Where the %1 dimension is used field group displays where the dimension is used in account structures and advanced rule structures.

Where the %1 dimension is used

The account structures and advanced rule structures that use the financial dimensions that you selected in the Financial dimensions or Default financial dimensions field group.

Note

The name of the field depends on the selection in the Financial dimensions or Default financial dimensions field group.
