About creating, opening, and saving map files

MapPoint files can contain a wide variety of information, such as routes with driving directions, drawings, Pushpins, demographic data, your own data, drivetime zones, and assigned territories.

When you save a map file, this information is saved along with the map. When you open a map file, any information associated with the map is displayed exactly as it was when the map was last saved.

You can also create templates that allow you to customize maps based on your preferences and needs. If you create multiple maps on a regular basis that have the same settings, map templates can save you time. For example, if you normally create routes with your home address as the starting point, you can create a map template that already has your home address designated as the starting point on a route.
