How to Set the Global Recipient Limit

This topic explains how to set the global Recipient Limit.

Before You Begin

When you modify the global Recipient Limit value, the new value takes effect only after the Microsoft Exchange Information Store service has restarted. By default, the global Recipient Limit is set to 5,000 and the per-user Recipient Limit is set to use the global Recipient Limit.

Either at the console or through a terminal session, log on using an account that is a member of both of the following:

  • The Administrators group on the local computer.

  • A group to which at least the Exchange Administrators role has been applied at the Organizational level.

Procedure

To set the global Recipient Limit

  1. Click Start, point to All Programs, point to Microsoft Exchange, and then click System Manager.

  2. Click Global Settings, click Message Delivery, and then click Properties.

  3. Click the Defaults tab.

  4. Under Recipient Limits, click Maximum, and then enter the new value.
