How to Specify the Front-End Servers That Allow for Attachment Handling

You can specify a list of front-end servers that are not impacted by the attachment blocking settings level you have configured in the registry. Users who connect through the front-end servers specified in this list can open attachments.

Before You Begin

If you have configured attachment handling on the server to either allow attachments or block attachments, the list of front-end servers that you do not want to be impacted by attachment blocking is ignored. Also, any request through a front-end server specified in the list must still pass Level 1 and 2 restrictions. Procedure

To specify the front-end servers that allow for attachment handling

1. Log on to the Exchange server using the Exchange administrator account, and then start Registry Editor (regedit).

2. In Registry Editor, locate the following registry key:

   HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\MSExchangeWeb\OWA

3. On the Edit menu, point to New, and then click String Value.

4. In the details pane, name the new value AcceptedAttachmentFrontEnds.

5. Right-click AcceptedAttachmentFrontEnds, and then click Modify.

6. In Edit String Value, under Value Data, enter the names of the front-end servers that you want to allow attachments.

7. Click OK.
