Part 5 contains advanced concepts about the underlying transport architecture of Microsoft® Exchange Server 2003 and the link state concepts that it uses. You should read Part 1 of this guide and possess a sound knowledge of the concepts that are presented in this guide before reading this section. Part 5 contains the following sections:

  • Understanding Internal Transport Components

    This section explains how the internal transport components, such as the routing engine, the advanced queuing engine, and the message categorizer, work together in the message delivery process.

  • Advanced Link State Concepts

    This section examines the details of the link state packet and explains advanced link state concepts.
