Mailbox store will not mount on startup

[This topic is intended to address a specific issue called out by the Exchange Server Analyzer Tool. You should apply it only to systems that have had the Exchange Server Analyzer Tool run against them and are experiencing that specific issue. The Exchange Server Analyzer Tool, available as a free download, remotely collects configuration data from each server in the topology and automatically analyzes the data. The resulting report details important configuration issues, potential problems, and nondefault product settings. By following these recommendations, you can achieve better performance, scalability, reliability, and uptime. The Microsoft® Exchange Server Analyzer Tool queries the Active Directory® directory service to determine the value for the msExchEDBOffline attribute of all objects with a class of msExchPrivateMDB. Objects with this class are mailbox stores.

A value of True for the msExchEDBOffline attribute indicates that the mailbox store will not be mounted automatically when the Microsoft Exchange Information Store service starts. A value of False indicates that the mailbox store will be mounted at startup. If the Exchange Server Analyzer finds the value for this attribute to be True, a warning is displayed.

This warning indicates that the Do not mount this store at start-up check box is selected. This check box is on the Database tab of the mailbox store Properties dialog box. When the check box is selected, the mailbox store will not be mounted automatically when the Microsoft Exchange Information Store service starts. The next time the Microsoft Exchange Information Store service is started, for example after a restart of the server, a mailbox store with this attribute set to True will not mount. We recommend that mailbox stores mount automatically when the Microsoft Exchange Information Store service is started.
