Welcome to the technical library for Microsoft Exchange Server, the messaging platform that provides e-mail, scheduling, and tools for custom collaboration and messaging-service applications. Easily create and manage your business communications both in the office and on the road by using Exchange Server.
The technical library is organized in the following sections:
I want to build a new 2008 R2 server with 2010 Exchange Server to take tha place of the old 2003 Exchange.
Problem 1: The old 2003 R2 SBS is the main Domain Controller with 2003 Exchange running on it. I need to get the new 2008 R2 Server with the 2010 Exchange Server up and running before I can take the 2003 Exchange off the main domain controller. The 2003 SBS will stay in place as the Main Domain Controller.
Problem 2: When I try to install the 2010 Exchange Server on the 2008 R2 server it wants to use the 2003 Exchange as the Main Routing device.....I want to install 2010 Exchange Server and rebuild the E-Mail accounts from the ground up.
Question: How can I install the new software?
hi , I have some ideas , share to you .
I do not known your Exchange 2003 roles , if have mail box , Client access、Hub transport , i think , the first you can use exchange 2010 mailbox roles on windows 2008 R2 replace exchange 2003 mailbox roles , before use exchange 2010 create high availability database

the second , use exchange 2010 Client access roles on windows 2008 R2 replace exchange 2003 client access roles , your exchange 2003 can go on run Hub transport roles , ( Main Routing device).
If you want to rebuild the E-mail account , then need to consider user email data import from exchange 2003 .
The exchange 2010 should be add Hub transport roles , because only exchange 2003's Hub transport roles , easy to form a single point of failure .
Give you a reference , maybe web link can help you !
