The SMTP LocalRetryMinutes registry value is non-default

[This topic is intended to address a specific issue called out by the Exchange Server Analyzer Tool. You should apply it only to systems that have had the Exchange Server Analyzer Tool run against them and are experiencing that specific issue. The Exchange Server Analyzer Tool, available as a free download, remotely collects configuration data from each server in the topology and automatically analyzes the data. The resulting report details important configuration issues, potential problems, and nondefault product settings. By following these recommendations, you can achieve better performance, scalability, reliability, and uptime. For more information about the tool or to download the latest versions, see "Microsoft Exchange Analyzers" at http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?linkid=34707.]

The Microsoft® Exchange Server Analyzer Tool reads the following registry entry to determine whether default SMTP queuing configurations have been changed:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE System\CurrentControlSet\Services\SMTPSvc\Queuing

If the Exchange Server Analyzer finds that the LocalRetryMinutes key has been set, the Exchange Server Analyzer displays a non-default message.

It is recommended that the default queuing values be modified only after complete consideration. The defaults were carefully selected for optimal performance in most environments. A general best practice is to address the root cause of the problem instead of modifying the queuing behavior on Exchange.

The Exchange Server Analyzer reports this configuration for informational purposes only. No action is required.

For more information about Exchange SMTP queuing, see the Microsoft Exchange Team Blog entry, "Explaining the Mysterious SMTP Advanced Queuing Engine" (http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?LinkId=48585).
