How to Create a New Instance of MMC

 

The Microsoft Management Console (MMC) provides a framework for management tools called snap-ins. A custom console is a single instance of MMC that houses all the snap-in tools that you use regularly. This procedure outlines how to create a new instance of MMC.

Procedure

To create a new instance of MMC

  1. Click Start, and then click Run.

  2. In the Open box, type MMC, and then click OK. This opens a blank MMC window (see the following figure:
