Implementing and Maintaining E-Mail Clients to Support Message Security in Exchange 2003

Chapter 2, "Understanding How Microsoft Exchange 2003 Supports Message Security," provided an overview of the components that make up a Microsoft® Exchange Server 2003-based message security system: Exchange Server 2003, the e-mail client, and public key infrastructure (PKI). Chapter 3, "Implementing and Maintaining Exchange 2003 to Support Message Security," provided Exchange administrators with the information to implement the Exchange 2003 portion of a Secure/Multipurpose Internet Mail Extensions (S/MIME)-based message security system.

This chapter provides information to help the e-mail client administrator implement an e-mail client in an S/MIME-based message security system that uses Exchange 2003. This chapter supplements documentation for specific e-mail clients.

This chapter is intended primarily for e-mail client administrators. In addition, Exchange administrators should review this chapter to familiarize themselves with issues that are specific to different e-mail clients.
