Routing Engine: AttachedTimeout parameter is non-default

The Microsoft® Exchange Server Analyzer Tool reads the following registry entry to determine whether Simple Mail Transfer Protocol (SMTP) connector routing logic has been modified from its default setting:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\CurrentControlSet\Services\RESvc\Parameters\AttachedTimeout

If the Exchange Server Analyzer finds that the AttachedTimeout registry key is present and configured with a value greater than 300, a non-default configuration message is displayed.

The AttachedTimeout registry entry is a custom configuration setting for Exchange Server that determines the frequency at which the ORG_INFO packet is sent. Every time the routing client does not connect to a routing server, the user version of the topology will be incremented and will cause the ORG_INFO packet to be broadcast throughout the whole organization.

  1. Open a registry editor, such as Regedit.exe or Regedt32.exe.

  2. Navigate to: HKLM\System\CurrentControlSet\Services\RESvc\Parameters

  3. Delete the AttachedTimeout registry key.

  4. Close the registry editor.

  5. Restart the IIS Admin Service for the change to take effect.
