Use the Get-MessageClassification cmdlet to view an existing message classification instance in your Microsoft Exchange organization.

Get-MessageClassification [-Identity <MessageClassificationIdParameter>] [-DomainController <Fqdn>] [-IncludeLocales <SwitchParameter>]

To run the Get-MessageClassification cmdlet, the account you use must be delegated the following:

  • Exchange View-Only Administrators role

For more information about permissions, delegating roles, and the rights that are required to administer Exchange Server 2007, see Permission Considerations.

Parameter Required Type Description

DomainController

Optional

Microsoft.Exchange.Data.Fqdn

To specify the fully qualified domain name (FQDN) of the domain controller that writes this configuration change to the Active Directory directory service, include the DomainController parameter on the command. The DomainController parameter is not supported on computers that have the Edge Transport server role installed. The Edge Transport server role reads only from the local Active Directory Application Mode (ADAM) instance.

Identity

Optional

Microsoft.Exchange.Configuration.Tasks.MessageClassificationIdParameter

Valid input for the Identity parameter is the Name parameter for the message classification instance that you want to view. When you specify a name that includes spaces, you must enclose the whole name in quotation marks, as follows, for example, "Administrative Name".

IncludeLocales

Optional

System.Management.Automation.SwitchParameter

When the IncludeLocales parameter is set to $true, the output includes the message classification locale data. The default value is $false.

The following code example returns all message classification instances in the Exchange organization.
