Other GAL-Related User, Group, and Contact Attributes

Other topics discuss Exchange-specific tasks and Exchange-related attributes on the user, group, and contact class objects. There are, however, other related attributes on those objects that may require delegation. For example, administrators may want to manage the properties of those attributes that relate to the global address list (GAL).

The following table lists the attributes for user, group, and contact objects that are seen within the GAL. You can view and modify these attributes on specific tabs of the appropriate object by using the Active Directory Users and Computers (ADU&C) MMC snap-in.

The following table lists examples of attributes that an Exchange Administrator may want to modify. Depending on the organization's business needs and processes, attributes may be added to or removed from this list. Regardless, the same steps apply as to how to delegate responsibilities.

Note

The attributes telephoneAssistant and secretary must be manually entered using the LDP tool (Ldp.exe) or ADSI Edit (AdsiEdit.msc). The ActiveDirectory Users and Computers MMC snap-in does not expose these fields.
