ScanMail for Microsoft Exchange archive directory contains too many files

The Microsoft® Exchange Server Analyzer Tool reads the following registry entry to determine whether version 7.0 of Trend Micro ScanMail for Microsoft Exchange is installed:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\TrendMicro\ScanMail for Exchange\CurrentVersion\Version

The Exchange Server Analyzer then counts the number of files that are present in the archive directory used by ScanMail for Microsoft Exchange. By default, the archive directory path is as follows:

C:\Program Files\Trend Micro\Smex\Storage\Archive

The Exchange Server Analyzer displays a warning if the following conditions are true:

  • Version 7.0 of ScanMail for Microsoft Exchange is installed.

  • More than 1,000 files are in the archive directory used by ScanMail for Microsoft Exchange.

This warning indicates the presence of many files in the archive directory used by ScanMail for Microsoft Exchange. Trend Micro recommends that you periodically review and clean out the archive folder used by ScanMail for Microsoft Exchange.
