MOM 2005 includes product knowledge that is related to alerts. You can use this information to help identify the root cause of problems that cause alerts to be generated and to prevent these problems from occurring again.

To view the product knowledge

  1. Click Start, point to Programs, point to Microsoft Operations Manager 2005, and then click Operator Console.

  2. In Microsoft Operations Manager 2005 - Operator Console, in the left pane, expand Microsoft Operations Manager.

  3. Under Microsoft Operations Manager, in the left pane, click Alerts.

  4. In the right pane, select the Alert that you want to learn more about.

  5. At the bottom of the right pane, in the Alert Details pane, click the Product Knowledge tab. If MOM contains additional product knowledge related to the alert, a check mark appears on the Product Knowledge tab. If there is a check mark, you can read about the alert in the Alert Details pane.
