Error Accessing Exchange Server
Topic Last Modified: 2010-04-01
The Microsoft Exchange Best Practices Analyzer contacts the Active Directory directory service to read configuration information about the Exchange installation. If the tool cannot locate the server in Active Directory, the following message is generated:
The Microsoft® Exchange Server Analyzer Tool cannot access your Exchange server. |
This error indicates that configuration information for the Exchange server you specified was not found in the Active Directory® directory service.
Note: |
|---|
| The current version of the Best Practices Analyzer does not support Microsoft Exchange Server 2010. When you use the current version of the Best Practices Analyzer to scan a computer that is running Exchange 2010, you are prompted to run the Best Practices Analyzer from the Exchange 2010 Management Console. For more information, see Exchange 2010 does not support the Exchange 2007 Best Practices Analyzer. |
Make sure that you typed the server name correctly.
Enter only the host or NetBIOS name of the server (for example, Server1) instead of the fully qualified domain name (for example, Server1.example.com).
Verify that you have the permissions that are required to access Active Directory configuration information for this server.
If the server is running Exchange Server 2010, run the Best Practices Analyzer from the Toolbox node in the Exchange 2010 Management Console.
