This Exchange Server 2003 server is not running the final Service Pack 2 build
Topic Last Modified: 2005-11-18
The Microsoft® Exchange Server Analyzer Tool queries the Active Directory® directory service to determine the value of the serialNumber attribute for all Exchange Server objects in the directory. The serialNumber attribute is a string value that includes both the version of Exchange Server and the version of the service pack, if installed. For example, on an Exchange Server 2003 computer that has Service Pack 1 installed, the serialNumber attribute is equal to Version 6.5 (Build 7638: Service Pack 2).
If the Exchange Server Analyzer finds the value for the serialNumber attribute contains 6.5 and Service Pack 2 in its string, but does not contain 7638 in the string, the Exchange Server Analyzer displays a warning.
This warning indicates that the Exchange Server 2003 computer is running a pre-release version of Exchange Server 2003 Service Pack 2.
|Because Exchange Server service packs cannot be uninstalled, it is strongly recommended that you do a full backup of the computer running Exchange Server before applying any service packs.|
Obtain the final version of Exchange Server 2003 Service Pack 2 at the Exchange Server 2003 Service Pack 2 Web site (http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?LinkId=52073).
Review the Exchange Server 2003 Service Pack 2 Release Notes (http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?LinkId=52072).
Completely back up the Exchange Server computer.
Apply Service Pack 2 for Exchange Server 2003.
Take another complete backup of the computer running Exchange Server.
