Prerequisites to Implementing Permissions Changes

To implement the permission changes that are discussed in this topic, you must make sure that your Exchange environment is up-to-date.

Exchange Server 2003

You must install Service Pack 1 for Exchange Server 2003 to implement the split permission model discussed in this document.

If the environment is a mixed-mode environment (that is, servers running both Exchange 2000 Server and Exchange Server 2003), it is highly recommended that you only use the Exchange Server 2003 System Manager to manage Exchange 2000 Server and Exchange Server 2003 objects.

Exchange 2000 Server

The following Exchange 2000 Server items must be installed on any system where the Exchange 2000 Server System Manager is installed:

• Service Pack 3 for Exchange 2000 Server and Exchange 2000 Server Enterprise Edition (https://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?linkid=17058)

• Latest Exchange 2000 Server Post-Service Pack 3 Rollup (https://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?LinkId=33457)
