Exchange Conferencing Server
What permissions do I need to install Microsoft Exchange 2000 Conferencing Server?
To install Exchange Conferencing Server, you need to be logged on to Active Directory as a user with the following permissions:
Exchange Full Administrator role at the Exchange 2000 Server organization level
Member of the local "Administrators" group on the target server
What permissions do I need to update Exchange 2000 Conferencing Server to Service Pack 2?
To update your Exchange Conferencing Server installation to Service Pack 2 (SP2), you need to be logged on to Active Directory as a user with the following permissions:
Exchange Full Administrator role at the Exchange 2000 Server organization level
Member of "Domain Admins" in the domain where the conferencing server resides
Member of the local "Administrators" group on the target server
You need to be a "Domain Admin" to update to SP2 because the installer creates a new Global Security Group in the "Users" container called "Exchange Conferencing Access Servers". This new group resolves past problems where non-Windows 2000 Server clients could not join secure conferences.
How do the Exchange Administrator roles affect Exchange Conferencing Server management?
The following table shows the different conferencing-related operations that administrators in various roles can perform.
