How to Create a Block Action
This article describes how to create a block action as outlined in How to Create a Block TCP 25 IPSec Policy. In the previous procedures, you defined two filters. To make these filters block SMTP traffic on the target computers, you must specify the action to take on these filters.
Before You Begin
The procedure in this article specifies naming conventions in bold italic. As you work through the other related procedures as listed in How to Create a Block TCP 25 IPSec Policy, notice that the policies, descriptions, and filters that are named in earlier procedures are referenced in subsequent procedures (again in bold italic).
It is recommended that you review Slowing and Stopping E-mail Viruses in Exchange Server 2003: Optional Configurations before implementing this procedure.
Procedure
To create a block action
In Group Policy Object Editor, expand Computer Configuration, expand Windows Settings, and then expand Security Settings.
Right-click IP Security Policies on Active Directory, and then select Manage IP Filter lists and filter actions. The Manage IP filter lists and filter actions property page is displayed.
Click the Manage Filter Actions tab, and then click Add. The Filter Action Wizard is displayed.
On the Welcome to the IP Security Filter Action Wizard page, click Next.
On the Filter Action Name page, enter Block in the Name field, Blocks traffic in the Description field, and then click Next.
On the Filter Action General Options page, select Block, and then click Next.
Click Finish.
