Failed to start scheduled job. Time-based Microsoft Exchange Assistants did not start to process the mailboxes during a specified time window.

Explanation

This Warning event indicates that one of the time-based Microsoft® Exchange Assistants did not start to process the mailboxes during a specified time window. The Exchange Assistants can be either event-based Assistants or time-based Assistants. The event-based Assistants start to process mailboxes on the occurrence of an event, such as on a change of Out-of-Office (OOF) information in one or more mailboxes. The time-based Assistants process the mailboxes periodically. Each time-based Assistant deploys an Assistants Driver that periodically checks whether the current time is within in a specified time window. When the current time reaches the specified time window, the Assistants Driver invokes the corresponding time-based Assistant. The time-based Assistant then obtains a list of mailboxes from the database and starts to process them.

This event may occur when the time-based Assistant does not obtain a list of mailboxes from the database for one or more of the following reasons:

  • The database specified in the event description is dismounted.

  • The time-based Assistant did not connect to the database. This behavior may occur if the Exchange Assistants service and the Exchange database run on different servers that are running Microsoft Exchange Server.

User Action

To resolve this error, do one or more of the following:

  • Make sure that the database specified in the event description is mounted. You can confirm the state of the database using Exchange Management Console.

  • Review other related Error or Warning events in the Application log. If the time-based Assistant did not connect to the database, you will see other related events which will help you find the cause of this warning.
