The Microsoft Exchange Server 2007 Management Pack for Operations Manager monitors the Windows Application log on computers that are running Exchange Server 2007 and generates this alert when the event or events specified in the following Details table are logged.

To learn more about this event, do one or more of the following:

  • Review the description of the event that includes the variables specific to your environment. From the Operator Console, select this alert, and then click the Properties tab.

  • Review all events that have been logged that meet the criteria of this Operations Manager alert. From the Operator Console, click the Events tab, and then double-click the event in the list for which you want to review the event description.

Explanation

This event indicates that the Microsoft® Exchange Information Store service found that a transaction log file is missing. The event occurs in the following situations:

  • A storage group is mounting.

  • A database is restoring from backup.

When a storage group is mounting or a database is restoring from backup, the Exchange Information Store service will be unable to mount the database if even one log file is missing.

When the event occurs, all databases in the affected storage group will be unable to mount or come online. Users who have mailboxes on the dismounted databases will be unable to send or receive e-mail.

User Action

To resolve this issue, follow one or more of these steps:

  • Look for related ESE events in the Application log. The related ESE events will give you the specific reasons and detailed error information to help you resolve this problem.

  • Run the Database Recovery Management tool to obtain more information and help with solving the issue. The tool is part of the Exchange Troubleshooting Assistant and can be found in the Toolbox of the Exchange Management Console.
