The managed folder mailbox assistant skipped processing all databases on the local server because it could not read the audit log parameters from Active Directory. It will try again later in the schedule window.

Explanation

This Error event indicates that the managed folder mailbox assistant (formerly known as e-mail life cycle assistant) did not process all the mailboxes on this server running Microsoft® Exchange Server because it could not read audit log arguments from the Active Directory® directory service. The managed folder mailbox assistant is a time-based Exchange Assistant that provisions the managed default folders and managed custom folders in user mailboxes on scheduled intervals.

For more information about managed folders, managed content settings, managed folder mailbox policy and managed folder assistant, see Deploying Messaging Records Management.

Audit logging is used to record the actions that are performed by the managed folder assistant. Audit log files are set up for each Mailbox server. By default, audit logging is disabled. The configuration information for audit logs is stored in Active Directory. This event is generally accompanied by event 10003 and indicates problems reading configuration data from Active Directory.

User Action

To resolve this error, do one or more of the following:

  • Make sure that the Exchange server that logged this event can connect to the configuration domain controller. For example, Use the Ping or PathPing command-line tools to test basic connectivity. Use Ping to isolate network hardware problems and incompatible configurations. Use PathPing to detect packet loss over multiple-hop trips. For more information, see Microsoft Knowledge Base article 325487, How to troubleshoot network connectivity problems.

  • Make sure that the configuration domain controller that Exchange server connects to is registered correctly on the Domain Name System (DNS) server. For more information, see the following Microsoft Knowledge Base articles:

  • Examine related events in the Application log and System log for Warning events and Error events that come before or after this event. These related events may provide more information about the root cause of this error.

The managed folder assistant will try to read the audit log information from Active Directory at the next scheduled interval. However, if this error frequently occurs, contact Microsoft Product Support Services. For more information, visit the Microsoft Help and Support Web site.
