The IsAlive check failed for the clustered Microsoft Exchange resource.

Explanation

The Cluster service checks for the presence of the other node by trying to communicate with it. This event indicates that the Cluster service failed the ISALIVE check for the named resource. This failure can occur if either of the following conditions is true:

  • The specified node is unreachable from this node.

  • The specified node is really down for some reason.

User Action

To correct the problem, follow these steps:

  1. Check the named node to make sure that all the services have been started.

  2. Verify that the following conditions are true:

    • The service for the resource is functioning correctly.

    • The server is not under high stress.

  3. If the previous conditions are true, check to determine why communication with that node failed.

    The problem may be simple:

    • A network cable may be loose or disconnected.

    • The network adapter, also referred to as NIC, may have been disabled on the server.

The problem may be something more subtle. For example, the TCP/IP may not be bound to that network adapter.
