The storage group copy could not be seeded.

Explanation

The Error event indicates that the Microsoft® Exchange Replication (MSExchangeRepl) service was unable to seed the storage group copy.

The Exchange replication service seeds the storage group copy under several conditions. Some of these conditions are as follows:

  • When the cluster is first formed.

  • After a failover, when the new passive node copy is corrupted.

  • In a local continuous replication (LCR) environment, after the user runs the Enable-StorageGroupCopy cmdlet and the storage group copy is corrupted.

  • When a required log file is missing and cannot be found.

  • When a database file in the storage group copy is missing.

  • When offline defragmentation was performed on the database and requires a reseed of the passive copy.

User Action

To resolve the error, review the detailed error description returned by the event and take action specific to the reason stated in the error description.
