The Microsoft® Exchange Server 2007 Management Pack for Operations Manager runs Exchange Management Shell cmdlets to monitor the Exchange environment. Running cmdlets triggers one or more Operations Manager alerts if it is detected that there is a problem in your Exchange environment.

To learn more about this event, do one or more of the following:

  • Review the description of the alert that includes the variables specific to your environment. From the Operator Console, select this alert, and then click the Properties tab.

  • Review all events that have been logged that meet the criteria of this Operations Manager alert. From the Operator Console, click the Events tab, and then double-click the event in the list for which you want to review the event description.

Explanation

The cmdlet that ran to trigger this event is the Test-ExchangeSearch cmdlet. The Test-ExchangeSearch cmdlet tests that Exchange Search is currently enabled and is indexing new e-mail messages in a timely manner. This Error event indicates that the Microsoft Search (Exchange) service is not running.

To resolve this Error event, do one or more of the following:

  • Use the Services Microsoft Management Console (MMC) snap-in to start the Microsoft Search (Exchange) service. In the Services details pane, right-click Microsoft Search (Exchange), and then click Start.

  • Use the Services MMC snap-in to start the Microsoft Exchange Search Indexerservice. In the Services details pane, right-click Microsoft Exchange Search Indexer, and then click Start.
