How to Search for Objects in Operations Manager 2007

Use the following procedure to search for objects in an Operations Manager 2007 management group.

To search for objects

  1. Log on to the computer with an account that is a member of the Operations Manager Administrators role for the Operations Manager 2007 Management Group.

  2. In the Operations Console, click Search.

    Note

    When you run the Operations Console on a computer that is not a Management Server, the Connect To Server dialog box appears. In the Server name text box, type the name of the Operations Manager 2007 Management Server that you want the Operations Console to connect to.

  3. In the Search text box, type part or all of the display name of an object and then click Search. The Search window opens and your search results are displayed.

  4. To narrow your search, click the Search arrow and then click one of the following search types:

    • All Object Types
    • Managed Objects
    • Alerts
    • Events
    • Rules
    • Monitors
    • Tasks
    • Views
    • Object Discoveries
  5. Click any object in the list of objects. Additional information about the selected object is displayed in the Monitor details pane.
