For information about a specific event or error, enter the source and ID number on the Windows XP Events and Errors search page and click Go.

You can find the following information on error or event messages on this site:

  • The text of the message as it appears in the application.

  • The name of the component that the message is related to (for example, Message Transfer Agent or Information Store).

  • The symbolic name that identifies each message in the programming source code (for example, IDS_FILE_WRITE_ERROR).
