Summary and Related Links

Windows XP SP2 contains the new Windows Firewall, which replaces ICF in Windows XP with SP1 and Windows XP with no service packs installed. Because Windows XP SP2 enables Windows Firewall by default on all connections, communications can be affected if the Windows XP with SP2-based computer is managed or is acting as a server, a listener, or a peer. You can deploy Windows Firewall settings in an organization intranet for computers running Windows XP with SP2 using the new Windows Firewall Computer Configuration Group Policy settings, the Unattend.txt file, the Netfw.inf file, a Netsh script, or a custom configuration program.
