Quota Message Service Registry Entries

Topic Last Modified: 2007-06-13

The following describes registry entries that configure and control the Quota Message Service. These registry entries are classified into three types of entries:

  • entries configured by the installer
  • optional entries that control Quota Message Service
  • entries that are useful for debugging Quota Message Service operation

SiteDN   A REG_SZ value under the parameters key, this is the site part of the Exchange server legacyDN. For example, “/o=Organization/ou=First Administrative Group”. Be aware that the Site DN does not have a trailing slash. If this is not set correctly, there will be logon failures during service startup.

CommonName   A REG_SZ value under the parameters key, this is the relative distinguished name part of the quota service mailbox’s legacyDN. Combining this value with “SiteDN” results in the mailbox’s legacyDN. Example – “/cn=Recipients/cn=QuotaMailbox”.

Server DN   A REG_SZ value under the parameters key, this is the legacyDN of the Exchange server. If this is not set correctly, there will be errors in retrieving the mailbox table.

Scheduled Run Interval   This REG_DWORD value under the parameters key determines the time, in minutes, between quota runs. The interval is from the completion of one run, not the start. Manual quota runs reset the run interval. The default value is 24 hours.

Logging Level   A REG_DWORD value under the parameters key that determines the level of logging done by the service. Valid values are 0 (no logging), 1 (minimum logging), 2, (medium logging), 3 (maximum logging), and 1638 (debug logging). Note that debug logging items are very verbose, and frequently useful only if actively debugging when output.

Logfile   A REG_SZ value under the parameters key that specifies the path and name of the text file for logging diagnostic information. If this value is not specified, a text log is not created.

Default Codepage   This REG_DWORD value under the parameters key is the LCID to use if there is no match for a mailbox’s locale in the quota message sets. The default is the first Quota Message Service found if this is not set.

Do Not Delete Profile   A REG_DWORD value under the parameters key. If present and nonzero, the Quota Message Service will not remove the dynamically created profile for the quota mailbox.

Break on Startup   A REG_DWORD value under the parameters key. If present and nonzero, the Quota Message Service will issue a DebugBreak() statement at startup to allow debugging of initialization problems.
