Processor Architecture Rule

The Processor Architecture basic rule in System Center Updates Publisher is used when creating or modifying software update definitions. It is used primarily as a prerequisite rule. The specified processor architecture is verified with what is found on a scanned computer. If the rule does not pass verification, the software update is considered not needed on the computer. The Processor Architecture rule has one drop-down menu with the following architectures:

  • x86: Detects systems with x86-based processors.

  • x64: Detects systems with EM64T and AMD64 processors.

  • Win64: Detects systems with Itanium-based processors.
