How to Re-Sign Software Updates

When software updates are published in System Center Updates Publisher, a digital certificate signs the software updates when they are published to an update server. Software updates that have previously been published are signed, and by default, Updates Publisher does not re-sign the updates when they are republished. Updates Publisher provides a setting that activates a prompt for designating whether software updates should be re-signed with the digital certificate specified on the Update Server tab of the Settings dialog box.

Use the following procedure to enable the prompt to re-sign software updates when publishing.

To configure Updates Publisher to prompt for re-signing when publishing

  1. Right-click any tree node item, and then click Settings in the Updates Publisher console to open the Settings dialog box.

  2. Click the Advanced tab, and then enable Prompt for re-signing updates while publishing.
