This topic explains how to use the Microsoft Exchange Server 2007 SP1 Setup wizard or a Command Prompt window to upgrade from the release to manufacturing (RTM) version of Exchange 2007 to Exchange 2007 Service Pack 1 (SP1). If you have one or more Exchange 2007 server roles or the Exchange management tools installed, you can upgrade to Exchange 2007 SP1.
In some cases, you may want to upgrade an Exchange 2007 SP1 server again. For example, if the first upgrade failed for one or more server roles, you must use either of the procedures in this topic to upgrade again.
Before you begin the procedures in this topic, be aware of the following:
The following permissions are required to upgrade to Exchange 2007 SP1:

Log on to the server on which you want to install Exchange 2007 SP1.
Insert the Exchange Server 2007 SP1 DVD into the DVD drive or download the Exchange 2007 SP1 package, and then run Setup.com. For download information, see Exchange Server 2007 Service Pack 1.
On the Start page, under Install, click Install Microsoft Exchange Server 2007 SP1.
In the Exchange Server 2007 SP1 Setup wizard, on the Introduction page, click Next.
On the License Agreement page, select I Accept the terms in the license agreement, and then click Next.
On the Readiness Checks page, view the status to determine if the server role prerequisite checks completed successfully. If they have completed successfully, click Upgrade to upgrade to Exchange 2007 SP1.
On the Completion page, click Finish.
Insert the Exchange Server 2007 SP1 DVD into the DVD drive or download the Exchange 2007 SP1 package. For download information, see Exchange Server 2007 Service Pack 1.
At a command prompt, run the following command.
Setup.com /mode:upgrade
