About the Task Sequence Editor Domain Joining Account
Applies To: System Center Configuration Manager 2007, System Center Configuration Manager 2007 R2, System Center Configuration Manager 2007 R3, System Center Configuration Manager 2007 SP1, System Center Configuration Manager 2007 SP2
This account is used in a Microsoft System Center Configuration Manager 2007 task sequence to join a newly imaged computer to the desired domain. This account is required if you add the step Join Domain or Workgroup to a task sequence, and then select Join a domain. This account can also be configured if you add the step Apply Network Settings to a task sequence, but it is not required.
Required Rights and Permissions
This account requires domain join rights in the domain that the computer will be joining.
Account and Password Creation
The account is not automatically created. The Configuration Manager 2007 Administrator creates one account per site and manages the passwords.
This account must be a domain account.
The administrator changes the account or password in the operating system, and then configures the task sequence to use the new account or password.
Security Best Practices
If you need accounts for your task sequences, you can create one domain user account with minimal permissions to access the required network resources and use it for all task sequence accounts.
Do not assign this account interactive logon permissions.
Do not use the Network Access account for this account.
