Supported Localized Languages

Updated: April 1, 2010

Applies To: System Center Configuration Manager 2007, System Center Configuration Manager 2007 R2, System Center Configuration Manager 2007 R3, System Center Configuration Manager 2007 SP1, System Center Configuration Manager 2007 SP2

The following table lists the languages that Microsoft System Center Configuration Manager 2007 site servers support. The first column lists the languages into which Configuration Manager 2007 servers are localized or enabled. The second column lists the corresponding client languages supported by each of the server language packages. Any site server language version listed in the table can be the child site or the parent site of any other listed localized server. Except for the French server, all localized servers support U.S. English clients.

The English-language server is available in both English and International English. The contents of the Configuration Manager 2007 product CD for these two versions are identical and can be used interchangeably; however, their license agreements are different.

noteNote
The Configuration Manager 2007 consoles for Traditional Chinese and Korean are displayed in the English language, but they are enabled for the specific server languages, so the DBCS output displays correctly in that language. The Configuration Manager 2007 client is fully localized to the local language. For example, menus are displayed in English but data such as package names and inventory data are viewed in the DBCS character set.

In addition to English, Configuration Manager 2007 clients are available in 21 language versions.

Character Sets

The DBCS support provided by Configuration Manager 2007 allows communication to take place between SBCS and DBCS site servers. This functionality is important because it enables you to use a single Configuration Manager 2007 site hierarchy to centrally manage your SBCS and DBCS sites. For example, you can centrally manage an English-language central site and a Japanese-language child site.

If any sites in your Configuration Manager 2007 hierarchy will use DBCS, the following requirements must be met:

  • Configuration Manager 2007 server computer names, Microsoft SQL Server database names, domain names, Active Directory site names, Configuration Manager 2007 site codes, user group names, report names, and Configuration Manager 2007 accounts that install or manage the Configuration Manager 2007 site hierarchy cannot contain DBCS characters. Only U.S. English is supported for object names, including those listed, in any Configuration Manager 2007 hierarchy. Plan to name all network resources with SBCS.

  • Hardware inventory class and value names in IDMIF and NOIDMIF files must not contain DBCS. However, values can contain DBCS.

  • Configuration Manager 2007 hardware inventory requires a backslash character (\) to follow every 5c character in an MIF file.

  • Software inventory file collection works correctly if 5c characters are in a file name. However, software inventory cannot collect files that contain 5c characters in the file name extension.

  • DBCS characters are not supported for package or file names.

In addition to providing support for both DBCS and SBCS servers, Configuration Manager 2007 is available in several language packages that provide different combinations of default server and client component language support. For example, the German-language package of Configuration Manager 2007 provides a German-language server user interface that supports German-language and English-language clients, while the French-language package of Configuration Manager 2007 provides a French-language server user interface that supports French-language clients.

Localized versions of Configuration Manager 2007 site servers are installed only on corresponding localized operating systems. For example, the Japanese language Configuration Manager 2007 site server version is installed on a Japanese operating system only.
