Deploy Authentication Certificates to All Clients and the Management Point
In Configuration Manager 2007 native mode, all clients (client computers and mobile device clients), must have a client authentication certificate to authenticate the client to the following servers:
Management point
Proxy management point
Standard distribution point
Software update point
State migration point
Additionally, deploy a client authentication certificate to the management point and state migration point. This certificate is required even if these site systems do not have a Configuration Manager 2007 client installed on them.
Configuration Manager 2007 does not request the client certificates from a public key infrastructure (PKI) or install them on any of the computers or mobile devices you want to manage with Configuration Manager 2007. These must be deployed externally to Configuration Manager 2007.
Important
If you do not install the client authentication certificates on the computers and mobile devices prior to deploying Configuration Manager 2007 client software, the clients will not be able to communicate with the site.
