Live Meeting Transport

Microsoft Office Communications Server 2007 and Microsoft Office Communications Server 2007 R2 will reach end of support on January 9, 2018. To stay supported, you will need to upgrade. For more information, see Resources to help you upgrade your Office 2007 servers and clients.

When you install the Conferencing Add-in for Outlook, Live Meeting Transport is added to your Outlook profile. The default e-mail transport is not changed. Live Meeting Transport is an extension to the Messaging Application Programming Interface (MAPI) subsystem for Outlook. Live Meeting Transport works with Outlook to retrieve changes made to a users Live Meeting calendar in Live Meeting Manager and ensure that they are reflected on the Outlook calendar. Live Meeting Transport also works with the Office Live Meeting service to enable scheduling meetings from Outlook while online or offline.

Although Live Meeting Transport does not actually deliver invitations, it is responsible for adding individualized join instructions to outgoing invitations for attendees and presenters before transferring to Outlook to deliver through a users regular mail service. Live Meeting Transport works in the background, meaning that Live Meeting invitations appear to function like standard Outlook meeting invitations.
