1. In the Configuration Manager console, navigate to System CenterConfiguration Manager / Site Database / Site Settings / Client Agents.

2. Right-click Remote Tools Client Agent, and then click Properties.

3. In the Remote Tools Client Agent Properties dialog box, specify the following values in the General tab:

   • Enable Remote Tools on clients - Enable this option.
     
     
   • Users cannot change policy or notification settings in the Remote Control Control Panel Enable this option if you do not want users on client computers to be able to change remote control settings from the client computer's control panel.
     
     
   • Ask for permission when an administrator tries to access clients If this option is enabled, you will not be able to remotely control a client computer until the user gives permission.
     
     
   • Clients running Windows 2000 Level of access allowed: Specify the level of remote access the Configuration Manager 2007 administrator will be given when using remote control on Windows 2000 client computers. Choose from No Access and Full Control.
     
     
   • Clients running Windows XP or later Level of access allowed: Specify the level of remote access the Configuration Manager 2007 administrator will be given when using remote control on Windows XP or later client computers. Choose from No Access, View Only and Full Control.
     
     
   • Click the Security tab.
     
     

4. In the Remote Tools Client Agent Properties dialog box, specify the following values in the Security tab:

   • Click the new permitted viewer button .
     
     
   • In the New Permitted Viewer dialog box, enter a Windows user name or Windows group to receive permission to use Configuration Manager 2007 remote control.
     
     
   • Click OK.
     
     
   • Click the Notification tab.
     
     

5. In the Remote Tools Client Agent Properties dialog box, specify the following values in the Notification tab:

   • Display a visual indicator Enable this option if you would like the user of the client computer being remote controlled to see a visual indicator that a remote control session is active. If selected, the indicator can be shown on the desktop or on the Windows taskbar.
     
     
   • Play a sound Enable this option if you would like the user of the client computer being remote controlled to hear a sound to indicate that a remote control session is active. If selected, the sound can be played at the beginning and end of the remote control session or continuously throughout the session.
     
     
   • Click the Remote Assistance tab.
     
     

6. In the Remote Tools Client Agent Properties dialog box, specify the following values in the Remote Assistance tab:

   • Manage Remote Assistance settings Specify whether to allow Configuration Manager 2007 to manage remote assistance for solicited and unsolicited sessions.
     
     
   • Remote Assistance settings Level of access allowed: Specify the level of access allowed for remote assistance sessions. Choose from None, Remote Viewing and Full Control.
     
     
   • Click the Remote Desktop tab.
     
     

7. In the Remote Tools Client Agent Properties dialog box, specify the following values in the Remote Desktop tab:

   • Configure Remote Desktop settings Specify whether to allow Configuration Manager 2007 to manager remote desktop settings.
     
     
   • Allow permitted viewers to connect using remote desktop session Specify whether to allow Windows users and groups in the Permitted Viewers list to initiate remote desktop connections from the Configuration Manager console.
     
     
   • Disable Remote Desktop Connection Disables the ability to initiate remote desktop connections from the Configuration Manager console.
     
     

   Note
   To use Remote Desktop or Remote Assistance, these must be installed and configured on the computer running the Configuration Manager console. For more information, see your Windows documentation.

8. Click OK to close the Remote Tools Client Agent Properties dialog box.
