Determine the Ports Required by Firewalls to Support Wake-Up Packets for Wake On LAN

Applies To: System Center Configuration Manager 2007, System Center Configuration Manager 2007 R2, System Center Configuration Manager 2007 R3, System Center Configuration Manager 2007 SP1, System Center Configuration Manager 2007 SP2

The default port used by Configuration Manager 2007 to send wake-up packets to target computers is UDP port 9.

However, this default port number can be changed as a site property, so you should ensure that any intervening firewalls and networking devices between the site server and its assigned clients are configured to allow the same UDP port number as configured in Configuration Manager 2007.
