How to Extend Hardware Inventory Using the Configuration.mof File

Applies To: System Center Configuration Manager 2007, System Center Configuration Manager 2007 R2, System Center Configuration Manager 2007 R3, System Center Configuration Manager 2007 SP1, System Center Configuration Manager 2007 SP2

The Configuration.mof file is used to modify data class information inventoried by clients during hardware inventory.

You can use Notepad to modify the Configuration.mof file.

To extend hardware inventory using the Configuration.mof file

  1. On the primary site server computer, navigate to <ConfigMgr installation directory>\inboxes\clifiles.src\hinv directory.

  2. Using Notepad.exe, open the Configuration.mof file and make any necessary changes.

  3. Close the Configuration.mof file and save changes.
